The staff we spoke with all recommended that families stop in on Embarkation Day to register their kids, take a tour of the space and meet the staff. After that day, parents are not allowed inside for security reasons so they can’t tour the space later in the week. There’s one pool on the ship, and while there are reviews that say there are three pools on board, they are wrong. During drydock refurbishment 2017, a total of 38 new cabins were added, of which 2x Grand Vista Suites, 22x Junior Suites, 2x Scenic Oceanview, and 12x Interior.
A total of 98 balconies were added to existing staterooms, which were upgraded to 230 ft2 / 21 m2 sized balcony cabins. The number of passenger staterooms was increased from 1026 to 1094, which increased the boat's passenger capacity from 2052 to 2128 (max 2462 to 2554). If you don’t want to upgrade to the scenic ocean view, the standard ocean view still offers great views from the window, as well as a cheery atmosphere and decor.

Because we sailed before school was out for the summer, we saw many young couples, honeymooners, parents with preschool-age kids (and younger) as well as a lot of older adults. There also were many multigenerational families aboard, both for vacation and family reunions. Carnival Elation was built in 1998 and is therefore noticeably smaller than the larger-than-life ships being built today.
